FURL Privacy Policy

Who We Are

FURL is a leave and FMLA case-tracking tool built for K-12 school district HR offices, offered by Beyond Core Benefits ("BCB," "we," "us," or "our"). FURL is currently in beta and is made available only to school districts invited to participate.

What FURL Is — and Is Not

FURL is a case-tracking and documentation tool. It helps school district HR staff organize leave case information, calculate applicable deadlines, and prepare draft notices. FURL does not make eligibility determinations and does not approve or deny leave. All determinations, approvals, denials, and communications with employees remain the responsibility of the school district using FURL.

Who Controls the Data

Your school district ("District") is the data controller for information entered into FURL. BCB acts as a service provider to the District, processing information solely to provide the FURL tool as directed by the District. If you are an employee of a District using FURL, questions about your specific leave case should be directed to your District's HR office, not to BCB.

Information We Collect

Information entered by District HR staff, which may include:

• Employee name, job title, and employment classification
• Employment dates and hours-worked information relevant to leave eligibility calculations
• Leave case type, dates, and status
• Certification and recertification deadline dates
• Notices drafted and sent, and a log of related communications

What we intentionally do not collect as structured data: FURL is designed not to store detailed medical diagnoses, treatment information, or similarly sensitive health details as structured, searchable data fields. Where a case may reference that a certification was received, FURL tracks that a certification exists and its relevant dates — not its underlying medical content.

Account and access information:

• Name and email address of authorized District users
• Login activity (magic-link sign-in records)

How We Use Information

We use the information described above solely to:

• Provide the case-tracking, deadline-calculation, and notice-drafting functionality of FURL
• Maintain and secure user accounts
• Improve FURL based on how it's actually used, including during this beta period
• Communicate with District HR staff about their FURL account or the beta program

We do not sell information collected through FURL. We do not use it for advertising.

How We Access Control Information

• Access to a District's case data is limited to authorized users at that District and BCB personnel supporting the FURL platform.
• Sign-in is limited to email addresses pre-approved by BCB for a specific District ("magic-link" authentication) — there is no open self-service account creation.
• Data belonging to one District is not visible to users at another District.
• Leave case data in FURL is not cross-referenced against other BCB systems or services (for example, retirement plan administration data), even where BCB serves the same District in another capacity.

Data Security

FURL uses role-based access controls and authentication limited to pre-approved users. As a beta product, FURL's security practices continue to be refined. FURL does not currently hold, and does not claim, any specific third-party security certification (such as HIPAA compliance or SOC 2).

Beta Program Notice

FURL is currently offered on a limited, invitation-only basis to a small number of partner Districts. Features, data handling practices, and this policy may change as the product is refined. We will make reasonable efforts to notify participating Districts of material changes.

Children's Information

FURL is a workplace HR tool intended for use by adult school district employees and HR staff. It is not directed at or intended for use by children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time, particularly as FURL moves beyond beta. We will indicate the date of the most recent update at the top of this page.
